Referee Training and In-Person Meeting For Current Referees
Notes for current referees:
Nor Cal will have a referee zoom training/meeting on Monday Aug 14 @ 7pm. Those refs who want to referee competitive soccer games MUST attend. I recommend all referees attend. Especially new referees. Use this link to register for the course. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_PB5Ch8V-TGiD7EEtPCbvmQ. They will be covering important topics for the 2023/24 season, including changes to the Laws of the Game, changes to the NorCal Handbook, as well as other NorCal relevant information. In addition they’ll take questions and provide some answers! They anticipate that this webinar will be concluded in about 60 minutes.
On Tuesday Aug 29th @7pm we will have our local Santa Cruz City referee meeting at the Harvey West Park Scout house. Those referees that attend and do 10 games for Santa Cruz City during the 2023 Fall season will receive a $75 bonus. That makes your referee certification free!! We will go over the expectations of referees, coaches, and spectators. We will also discuss any 2023 rule changes and our modified rules for our rec program.
All Santa Cruz City games are self-assignable. You can always reach out to me if you have any issues picking up games.
Referees must arrive 20 minutes prior to kickoff in order to have a pregame discussion with the crew and to check in the teams. Black hats are ok to wear. Please ensure you have long black socks, your shirt tucked in, and preferably black shoes. We want to look and act professional out there.
Once you self-assign a game, you can not unassign yourself. If it is prior to Wednesday evening before the game, please email me at Ruddtami@gmail.com and I will remove you. If it is Thursday or later, you need to work on finding your own replacement. You can email me and I will attempt to find a replacement, but I will need your help. If it is on Friday night, or the weekend, you must TEXT or CALL me at 831-345-1531. Do NOT email me. I do not check my email all day and I need as much time as possible to help find a replacement.
