Competitive Soccer
Santa Cruz City Youth Soccer Club offers a competitive program in which more than 400 local players participate. Competitive teams are designed for players who show an interest and ability to train and play with similarly advanced players. The players enjoy more frequent and longer training sessions than recreational program teams. All of the competitive teams play in the fall and many of the competitive teams play in a spring league as well.
Tryouts for the Jaws (girls) and Sharks (boys) occur in the spring, usually in May, for the upcoming fall season. Teams are based on the players’ birth year. Players may play up (on older teams) in certain circumstances, but may not play on a younger team than their birth year. The fall competitive season usually begins in August and ends in November or early December. The spring competitive seasons usually begins in February or March and ends in May. The competitive program usually has teams for U9 - U19 depending on player demand and coach availability. Tryouts for the 2024 Fall Competitive Season
The SCCYSC would like to announce our upcoming 2024 Fall Competitive Jaws/Sharks team tryouts being held in May and early June. Each age group will have two scheduled tryout dates. It is highly recommended players attend both tryouts in order to be considered for a roster spot on one of the teams. The age groups are based on birth year. Please use the following link to pre-register for tryouts https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/427290. It is free to register and tryout. Please arrive 15 minutes before your start time to check in. Players should wear shin guards, socks that cover the shin guards, and cleats/turf shoes; players should bring water/sports drink.
