Over 400 players participate in Santa Cruz City YSC's competitive soccer program. Competitive teams are for boys and girls ages 8 to 18 who show interest and ability to train and play with similarly advanced players.
The competitive teams play in the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) District 2 league (CCSL) and in tournaments throughout northern California. Some of the competitive teams play in the Spring League as well as in the Fall. The club's competitive teams have played successfully in all divisions (Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Premier) of their age groups.

Santa Cruz City YSC competitive teams held tryouts in January for the Spring 2016 season. Tryouts for the Fall 2016 season will be held in February and March. For more information see the Tryouts page.
The club uses paid external evaluators in order to receive objective assessment of the candidates

Online registration is available through Sportability. Follow the link to the appropriate Sharks or Jaws team (don't register for a recreational team, please).
Send the completed registration form along with a copy of the player's birth certificate and a check for $180 to:

Players in teams that will be playing in NorCal this Spring, rather than CYSA District II, need to complete the US Club Soccer registration form and hand it in to their team manager.
No player will be turned away for lack of funds. We want every child to play who wants to play. Please read the Financial Aid section for details.
