Over 200 players participate in Santa Cruz City YSC's competitive soccer program. Competitive teams are for boys and girls ages 8 to 18 who show interest and ability to train and play with similarly advanced players.
The competitive teams play in the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) District 2 league (CCSL) and in tournaments throughout northern California. Some of the competitive teams play in the Spring League as well as in the Fall. The club's competitive teams have played successfully in all divisons (Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold) of their age groups.
The club relies on volunteers to coach its competitive teams. For more information see the Coaches section.

Uniform Order Forms
Competitive team uniforms are available for re-order through each team's manager. A price guide is available for each uniform item. (Regarding sock sizes: Size 1: shoe sizes 13-3, Size 2: shoe sizes 3.5-6, Size 3: shoe sizes 7-12).
All Santa Cruz City YSC competitive teams hold tryouts in March for the Fall season. Other tryouts are held in December or January for those teams who play year-round and have vacancies.
The club uses paid external evaluators in order to receive objective assessment of the candidates. Tryouts are usually held at Branciforte Middle School and Depot Park.

No player will be turned away for lack of funds. We want every child to play who wants to play. Please read the Financial Aid section for details.
Refund requests must be made in writing (with a self-addressed, stamped envelope) mailed to:

Requests postmarked before the first scheduled game in September will receive a full refund minus a non-refundable $20 processing fee. No refunds will be granted after the first game.
