Heidi does a fantastic job of imparting a positive attitude, is quite knowledgeable in teaching skills, works them at an appropriate level of exertion, and sincerely cares about each player. In my son's and his friends words, "She's really kind, and cares about us. She doesn't get mad when we make a mistake; her "punishment" is reasonable. If you're sick, or injured, she lets you sit out. She listens to what we say, she really listens." Regarding the "emotional tanks", she keeps them quite filled; she is very reaffirming. After each game, she sends an e-mail recounting the game, specifies particularly good efforts and strong plays, and concludes with positive statements. It's clear that she values their good effort and improving their skills over the importance of winning.
