Melinda Kovats
I can honestly say that I have never, in all these years,
heard Melinda criticize one of her players. In fact, I have been amazed at her
level of self control when confronted by the inevitable frustrations and
inequities that sometimes occur on the field. No matter how bad the call she
supports the referee and tells the boys to simply carry on. After last Saturday's game I realized
one of Melinda's greatest strengths. All of the players have improved
significantly since the beginning of the season. On Saturday there were no weak
players, only a cohesive team that were enjoying the wonderful game of soccer.
She coaches and trains the kids during practice with her
creative skillful drills and scrimmages. You will never hear her yelling during
the game. She allows the kids to play and use their skills they learned during
the week. My son is a life long learner from this positive coaching style.
She has helped every player on the team develop and finds a way to let every player discover their potential to contribute. Her style has also let kids develop at their own pace without her favoring the strongest players on the team. She doesnŐt get mad or frustrated either even though this can be a very challenging, wildly energetic gender and age.
