Greg Hayford
and Sandra Murdock
Greg is always totally positive and helps all of us keep the point of the game in mind-to have fun and to learn about the game and to demonstrate good sportsmanship. Sandra makes a point of telling us all the progress she has seen this season with our son which is great because he is new to the game and she has helped him build confidence. One boy had allowed the other team to score a goal and a few boys on the sidelines from our team said, "Oh no, how could you let that happen" and Greg was on them in an instant, pointing out that everyone makes mistakes and that the boy who allowed the goal already felt badly enough about the mistake. He also pointed out that our goalie was taking time to give the boy some supportive advice. A little while later, the same boy prevented the other team from scoring and Greg pointed this out to the boys on the sidelines and emphasized how important it was to focus on his success rather than his mistake. When the half was over, one of the boys from the sideline ran out to hug the boy who'd been playing defense and came walking off the field with his arm around him. It was a great picture and a great moment. And this has been an awesome season thanks to Greg and Sandra. I am so pleased with the way the soccer club has emphasized what really matters in sports. We'll definitely be back next season!
