U13 boys competitive soccer team Sharks 00 Blue, after reaching the California State finals of the Presidents Cup, will be participating in the Region IV Presidents Cup that will take place from June 11 through June 15 at the Morgan Hill Sport Complex in Morgan Hill, CA. This event has teams representing Cal South, Cal North, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Alaska. The Champion of this event will represent Region IV at the National Championship in Greenville, SC from July 11 thru July 13.
This is the first time that a team from Santa Cruz City YSC has had the opportunity to play and represent Santa Cruz at the regional level of competition. Most of the players on this team started playing soccer at the recreational level (U6), and the team has volunteer parents as Coaches and Manager.
Because of the nature and the schedule of the competition, some players have been asked to miss school on Wednesday and Thursday. These are some of the hard choices that go along with high level competition.
