FUTSAL REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Futsal is soccer played in a gymnasium with a smaller ball that is specially designed to bounce less. The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces. The intention is to give the players opportunities to play freely with limited intervention and stoppage of play from the 'coaches'.
This program will be run on Sundays in the Santa Cruz High Gym, at 415 Walnut Street, from January 7- February 25th. Michael Vahradian, SCCYSC competitive coach, and the Harbor High School Varsity Coach, and Alex Morales, longtime area referee, will be overseeing all age groups. League players from local high school teams will be assisting with organizing players, dividing them into teams every weekend and monitoring/refereeing the U6 and U8 level games.
We intend to have the following divisions of play, however based on the number of players registering, these may be adjusted to maximize participation:
U6 Co-ed, U8 Girls, U8 Boys, U10 Boys, U10 Girls, U12-U15 Co-ed
Game times run from 8:30 a.m. to early afternoon, younger ages will be earlier in the morning. We will notify all participants of their time by January 2, 2018.
Footwear is gym appropriate, tennis shoes or indoor soccer shoes. Shin guards are required.
Cost is $85 a player. Space is limited, and registration filled quickly last year. Registration will close once the allotted spaces are filled.
